Circle & Sacred Dance List and Search Facilities
These pages list some information about some dances. You
may look at alphabetic lists or you may make a search on various criteria.
There must inevitably be many errors and I hope that you will help me correct
them by contacting me at
raymond@SacredCircleDance.info
Please note that where I refer to particular albums for sources of music, you
should check the accuracy of the information before committing yourself to a
purchase.

Help needed!
I am particularly interested at present in:
- reassigning dances described as Yugoslavian to the appropriate country.
- improving and adding to the attempts to indicate the accepted
pronounciation
- adding to the musical sources - CD and tape numbers particularly welcome
- correctly identifying the choreographers of modern dances - in some cases,
I have only initials.
Technical Points
- All the pages below this one are generated by an automated process
from my dance list which is kept in a spreadsheet.
- Dances that appear more than once have alternative sources of music.
- The matching of dance names with something that sounds a bit similar to
the letters you type is done with a modified SOUNDEX coding. You may be
puzzled sometimes why particular dances appear when you think they sound
nothing like what you are looking for - but working across languages and
even alphabets is not easy. As long as the list you get is not too long, you
should be able to find what you want within it (assuming it's in the list
at all, of course!)
- Currently, the searching not based on sound is also too permissive - I
will try to fine tune it. For example, searching for dances by Friedel
Kloke-Eibl produces dances which are not her choreographies but which are on her CDs.
- I am hoping eventually to provide computer generated representations of the
steps and of the music that should be sufficient to help identify the dance.
